Dog Fouling
Can I ask who has a dark coloured dog, looks as though it could possibly be a Staff Terrier, that is let out alone to run the street?
This dog has left deposits on my garden on several occasions, the latest being at 6:55am on the 2nd July, and I must say it is inexcusable.
Dog Fouling is a criminal offence and I also think that to let your pet do that in such a small community is even more offensive.
I have found this very upsetting, as there really is no need for such laziness and if it continues I will be forced to involve the authorities.
Sorry to bring Dog Fouling up again, but again this weekend a dog has been out wandering and messed outside my house, in the middle of the pavement. (Outside edge of the first corner, opposite the cobbles)
Some poor soul seems to have already stepped in it and so it is now spread across the pavement making it more difficult to remove.
This has happened during Saturday afternoon, early evening.
I am not a dog owner and find this kind of mess unacceptable. I know most dog owners are responsible enough to collect the mess when taking their animals on a walk, but may forget that ‘escapees’ can leave gifts too.
I’m not casting blame, but I did see a dark coloured dog wandering seemly unaccompanied, so suspect it was the culprit. If this was your dog, please can you come and collect your gift, as I must say I’m not prepared to clean it up in the state it’s now in.
We agree totally. We woke up to this delightful mess earlier on in the week. If you own a dog it is your responsibility to CLEANUP, I am sure we are all aware of that, so why do we not do it. There is a penalty for dog fouling and maybe it should be enforced.
Again we have had dog fouling on our front lawn. Do the owners of this dog not understand. Please can we keep and eye out for what dog is the culprit. My husband is getting pretty fed up Be responsible for your animal.
Neighbours beware, the what I believe to be a staffordshire terrier, is roaming free again.
It was on my front garden at 8:27 this morning, when it then ran off up the road toward Short Drive, to return 5 minutes later on the opposite side of the road.
Do we know who this dog belongs too?
Or is there someone we can report it to?
On Monday morning (at 9.14am) we had a very unwanted visitor in our back garden – a black and white spaniel.
I have a photo if anyone needs to ID it.
I chased it off after one of my cats came through the cat flap at such a pace, the door flew off and she was very upset.
I then had to chase the dog away. It was still wandering around at 9.31am with the Staff Terrier. (which we also have photos of)
If I find this, or any other unaccompanied dog in my garden again, I will be having it collected by the dog warden – I’m sorry if this is a little harsh, but I’m sick of clearing up after them and having my pets terrorised on their own patch.
Paul has just cut the grass on the green and found 3 dog poos which he had to clear up before he could start cutting. These were the ones he noticed, there may have been more. In a responsible society it is a shame that some dog owners don’t bother to clear up after their animals so we don’t need to have dreadful signs around the area reminding them to do so, unfortunately this might be the only alternative.
Whilst writing we would like to thank Jackie, David and Paul for all their hard work in organising a meeting on the green which resulted in a committee being formed with a great result for us all. Thanks to all those involved.

Heating Oil Syndicate.
Would anyone be interested in forming a Heating Oil Syndicate?
The idea is that we organise oil deliveries for several houses to be delivered at the same time. Usually by ordering bulk we can get a better price.
How it works!
1.Each household emails or drops a note to the Syndicate head (Myself or other as decided), stating how much oil they require.
2. The volume is totalled and the Syndicate head calls around for the best price and places the order (including the amounts and addresses to be delivered to)
3. Order details will be sent to those ordering. (i.e agreed price per litre and delivery date)
4.Payment is taken upon delivery by the householder for each delivery.
Personally I’m ok for Oil at the moment and prices are currently anywhere between 40p – 80p litre and unlikely to be delivered until well into the new year.
We are looking at reordering around March/April. If you are interested please reply here and we can organise the Syndicate if we have enough members to make an impact on the costs.
The Oil Syndicate is growing slowly, but just to let everyone else know, we are planning our next delivery for August, anyone interested in a top up at that time please drop me a line.
Our last delivery secured a good price of 54.95p per litre, and knowing that prices are on the rise again (in excess of 57ppl as of today) , I hope all were happy – well as happy as you can be paying for oil.
The more people that join the syndicate, the better our buying power, and the better price we pay.
Yes Bethy I will be happy to be part of that.
We would also be interested in that – but we won’t need much in March/April as I have just ordered a delivery!
I will also be interested but at present we got lucky with 900 litres at 40p/l
Where did you get that deal, Kevin? That is very good!
If we could get this price or similar again, who would be interested in a top up sooner rather than later?
Hello,
This was actually in November before the horrid weather kicked in and i think 42p / litre was the going price at the time. I managed to haggle a penny or 2 down.
We currently buy our oil fro WATSONS , but as always it a good idea to shop around and haggle with them- even 0.5p off a litre can be a huge saving.
Yes us.
Boilerjuice.com is stating the average price per litre is now around 65p, I’ll have a ring around on Monday and see what’s on offer.
Bill, and anyone else who is interested can you let me know what sort of volume you’d be looking for so we can get some ball park figures.
At the moment our tank is just over half full.
So I would guess 600 litres would top up.
Hi All,
Over the next few days I will be dropping leaflets to all houses in the Drive, as there has been little response to the Syndicate so far. Hopefully this will inspire a few others to join.
As you maybe aware, oil prices are currently still pretty high (54p per litre on average) and I had hoped they’d be dropping a little quicker.
If prices keep high, we’d need more members to make the syndicate worthwhile, as we could all take smaller deliveries when the price is high, to tide us over but still have a worthwhile delivery load and get a better price.
Ideally we need to be ordering 3000 litres or more as a total to make this worthwhile.
We are watching the oil prices again, they are currently around the 58p per litre (22nd July quote), so not much in the way of improvement since our last delivery earlier in the year. If anyone is interested in having a top up before winter, send me your contact details and an idea of volume and together with your support we can have a larger delivery and a better price for all.
yes please Beth.
Bill.
Hi the Staffy was wondering past TVS at about 8.15 this morning, it does have a collar and what looked like a tag but was to quick for me on a stick to catch it!!!
It looked like it came from Short Drove so maybe it might be worth asking up there.
Thanks Charlie,
I’m now keeping a record for FDC. If anyone spots dog mess anywhere, can they let me know, so that I can add it to the report and the council can take action.
tonight at 7.20 a black & white spaniel left a deposit on the path on the other side of the road from my lounge window, i also chased the same dog out of my garden on wednesday morning it is now getting beyond the joke ..
